Do You Assume a Pose?

Everyone pretty much assumes a pose. It just means that you’re not acting like you really are or would if you weren’t afraid of being judged, and everyone is afraid of being judged, so everyone puts on a fake persona. I put on a fake face every day, multiple actually. I have one for when I go to school, one for home, one for when I’m in public and one for when I’m at work. Each on works for a different situation, but all of them pretty much just try to make the best of bad situations which happen every day. I’m not going to lie some of them are just to seem cool because who doesn’t want to have as many friends as possible, but a lot of my different attitudes are just so that I don’t stand out and make a scene. I haven’t really shown my “true” self to anyone since about 8th grade which is when I figured that people thought I was seriously weird and that something was wrong with me. Then I started to not talk to people and pull it back a little bit, not being who I really was and just pretending to be who people wanted me to. If you think about it it doesn’t really make any sense. If everyone is acting how other’s expect you to is there anyone out there that actually WANTS to act like this? All cocky and smug. It makes you feel kinda weird if you don’t get some time to yourself and act like you really feel; you lose touch with yourself and actually become that image you put on for other people.

  1. I dont really agree with the first few sentences of your post. First of all not everyone is afraid of being judged. I am not afraid of being judged at at. I could care less what other people think of me. I put on one face in the morning and stick with that face all day I dont change for anyone for any reason. I am who I am.

  2. I kind of agree with what you said. Not everybody is afraid of being judged but a lot of people are. I don't really think it's good that you havn't shown your "true" self since 8th grade. Its okay to change your personality depending on the situation. But I think that there should be at least one person you can be yourself around. Like one of your friends. How can they be your friend if they don't know the real you
